How the Land Lies
14th August - 14th September 2019 For our second summer exhibition of 2019, I’m delighted to welcome back three of the Byre’s regular fine artists: Kerry Harding, Jill Hudson and Nikki Mosley each of whom have created some stunning new landscapes for this exhibition. Glass artist Benjamin Lintell exhibited at the Byre for the first time in the spring and his stunning work was quickly snapped up - he’s back with a very impressive new collection of work which I’m sure will win him even more fans.
Working in both glass and ceramics, Jane Smith makes her first appearance at the Byre Gallery with some beautiful ceramic vessels and some stunning outdoor sculptural pieces that blend the two materials. Fellow ceramicists Lucy Burley, Alice Funge, Helen Harrison, Remon Jephcott, Leigh Mason, Kathryn Sherriff and Jessica Thorn make welcome returns each creating some lovely new pieces. I first saw Terry Howe’s very original mixed media work last summer and was captivated by his clever use of materials and manipulation to create such wonderful pieces; I hope you enjoy them too.
Jewellery is always a key part of an exhibition at the Byre Gallery and How the Land Liesis no exception: regulars Beverly Bartlett, Clare Lloyd, Lucy Spink and Libby Ward are joined by recent discovery Claire Stockings-Baker - all with highly covetable new collections; there is so much to fall in love with!
