Feedback

"I cannot recommend Elaine enough. Elaine has vast experience and she offers valuable insight and a common sense approach to working with galleries. She broke down my fears and her course is full of useful tips, she explained what helps make the difference in being taken seriously and building professional working relationships with galleries.

I have since been working with two galleries and have just completed my first solo show where I sold eight paintings. Elaine genuinely cares for you as an artist.  Thank you, Elaine."

About Elaine Dye

Following a career in PR in the arts and media (including being a senior member of the communications team launching BBC Four television in 2002), Elaine took an MA in Curating.  Graduation coincided with the completion of a building project which turned dilapidated Cornish barns into a home with an exhibition space attached, and in 2014, the Byre Gallery officially opened its doors.

Elaine curates around five exhibitions a year at the Byre and occasionally at other venues. Elaine is also an experienced business coach and mentor specialising in working with creatives*; she regularly gives talks and presentations on subjects including, getting ready to sell, working with galleries, and styling techniques for artists and makers. In 2023 she launched an online course: An Insider’s Guide to Gallery Success.

About the Byre Gallery

The Byre Gallery is in south east Cornwall on the beautiful, and often over-looked Rame Peninsula, which is known for the twin fishing villages of Kingsand and Cawsand, the beautiful sweep of golden sand at Whitsand Bay, and the iconic Rame Head.

Situated at the entrance to the village of Millbrook, the Byre Gallery is an elegant and welcoming space showcasing stunning works of design-led craft and contemporary art by leading and emerging makers and artists from throughout the UK.

Founded in 2014 by Gallery Director Elaine Dye, the Byre Gallery is known for its elegant aesthetic and stylishly curated exhibitions where each piece is thoughtfully selected to add to the overall cohesive feel of the gallery space.  Visual art is hung in a considered way to best complement pieces of contemporary craft, and dark wooden furniture adds warmth, and a suggestion of an inviting domestic setting.
