Caroline Reed

Caroline Reed is a glass artist influenced by the seascapes and geology of the Cornish coast which has captivated her since childhood.

Her current body of work (seaweeds, barnacles and rock pools) is inspired by her tidal walks along the North Cornish Coast. The rhythmic ebb and flow of the tides serve as a constant source of inspiration, influencing both the themes and techniques of her art. The colours and textures she builds into her glass are an emotional response to these landscapes.

Caroline uses two main glass-working methods: lost wax casting and pâte de verre (a paste made from glass powders and grains) where glass is blended to make vessels that capture the ephemeral beauty and colours of the shoreline.

Caroline began working in glass in 2016. She studied Ceramics and Glass at the Royal College of Art, graduating in 2023.
