Another year over... this time last year, none of of us could have predicted what the next twelve months had in store for us: worrying, unsettling and challenging times, with loss, sadness and anxiety for many of us; nothing you would ever wish for.
But amidst all this, there was so much we could be grateful for and proud of. The artists and makers who make the Byre Gallery what it is have been exceptional this year; they've continued to work - many having limited access to equipment or their studios or having to fit in home schooling - and have created stunning pieces of art and craft which have made all our hearts sing. I couldn't be more grateful to them or proud of them, I can only do what I do because of them.
And I'd also like to say a huge thank you to all of you: for continuing to read these posts, for keeping in touch during lockdown, and for making 2020 - despite everything - a hugely successful year for The Byre. By visiting - online and in person - and buying work from the gallery you've helped to support the businesses of more than forty highly talented artists and makers whose work has featured in the Byre's exhibitions this year, so on behalf of them, and from me, thank you very much.
'Winter at the Byre' continues in the gallery until 3rd of January - and online until the 10th, and there are still some beautiful pieces to enjoy. Given the news that Cornwall will be in Tier 2 from Boxing Day, I've decided to open by appointment only, so please do get in touch to arrange if you'd like to visit.
We're taking some time off in January but we'll have some online treats in February and hope to re-open at the end of March with our spring exhibition - 'In Full View.'
More details in the new year. Until 2021, we'd like to wish you - and your loved ones - a safe, healthy and merry Christmas and a happy and peaceful New Year.
