It already feels like spring has sprung - how lovely it is to enjoy being outdoors with blue skies, spring flowers, and blossom on trees; long may it continue!
But even if there is change to cooler, blustery days, the joys of spring will be very much in evidence at the Byre Gallery over the next few months. This year we're having two spring exhibitions: Full of Joys opens on 29th March and runs until the 27th of April; then A Colourful Life opens on the 4th of May. I hope you can join us for Private View drinks on Friday 29th March (a date also notable for our departure from the EU!) for what promises to be an exciting exhibition with a mix of wonderful work from both new and regular artists and makers.
Showing at the Byre Gallery for the first time are: artists Sara Bor and Sophie Harding (below, Cornish Narcissi and Apple); glass artist Alice Heaton - winner of the Byre Gallery Showcase award at last summer's Contemporary Craft Fair at Bovey Tracey; ceramicists Rebecca Harvey, Judy McKenzie, and Angie Wickenden; jewellers Cecile Gilbert, Val Muddyman and Judith Peterhof; and wood artist Adrian Mitchell. I'm delighted that regulars Lucy Burley, Jill Holland, Jill Hudson, Remon Jephcott, Clare Lloyd, Catriona MacKenzie, Ruth Shelley and Kate Welton will all also have some wonderful new pieces in the gallery.
