Welcome to our new website
We're now live with a shiny new website - and a whole new look. It's seven wonderful years since we first opened the Byre Gallery doors, and a lot has changed in that time. Back in 2014 a website was really only an information portal, for us now it needs to be a virtual gallery and a shop front. After adapting to the restrictions of 2020 by offering more of our beautiful art and craft pieces online, we realised that having a website that was straightforward to navigate by you - our clients - and easy to use by us, was a necessity. We had a talk to Elliot Forte at Business Think Digital in north Cornwall and have worked to build a site that we think captures both the essence of visit to the 'real' Byre gallery as well as an accessible and easy to use format.
Once we started to get the new 'look' together we realised that our Byre logo looked a bit old and tired. Shopping local being one of our mantras, we only had to go down the hill to our neighbours at N9 Designs where Nick Warren was incredibly patient with us and came up with our very elegant new look. As soon as I saw the 'circle squared B' I fell in love.
It reminded me of a ceramicist's 'maker's mark' and also seemed to capture a bit of what the Byre is all about - the sharp corners of paintings softened by the curves of our contemporary craft. Together with the lovely new font I think we've got an elegant new look - for the next seven years... or maybe even longer.
There is bound to be a few teething problems with the new site, so please do bear with us and if there are any glaring errors you've spotted please do let us know.
'In Full View' our spring exhibition goes live online on Saturday morning at 10am, I hope you'll enjoy it.
