Present and Correct - now open
Every exhibition at The Byre features a beautifully curated selection of art and contemporary craft from artists and makers from throughout the UK and this Christmas is no exception. Jewellery is always high on the list of presents to give and receive and Present and Correct features a wonderful selection of eye-catching earrings, rings, bracelets and neckpieces: delicate silver and gold work by jewellery designers Corrinne Eira Evans, Lucy Spink and Beverley Bartlett, complement the trademark bold colours of Byre regulars Tracey Falvey and Lisa Henshall, and the striking style of new talent Jodie Hansen. For the home, elegant ceramics by Lucy Burley and Jessica Thorn in wonderful cool wintery shades would make stunning additions to any interior - or very desirable gifts to put under the tree; jewel coloured glass vessels, jugs and glasses from Catriona Mackenzie look wonderful in either traditional and contemporary settings, and Byre newcomer Alex Hoare’s glass platters in icy pastel shades seem to shimmer in the winter sun, heavenly. No well dressed table this Christmas is complete without Phil Atkin’s timeless pewter work: delightful salt and pepper sets hand-crafted from Cornish shells look stunning alongside his place-name holders, candle holders and decorative shells. Pewter starfish and scallops also feature in tree decorations - and this year’s selection of delights for the tree are pieces you won’t want to put away in January. Lisa Henshall’s bold and brilliant paintings have been recreated on wonderful ceramic balls; delicate glass from Toni Fairhead look good enough to eat, as do some stunning ceramic pieces from Paul Cardew which almost resemble iced Christmas cookies!
