For Kerry, paint has always been the hero: the alchemy of mixing, pouring, mark making and rubbing away has made the paint itself, and the process of painting integral to her creative expression. Kerry’s recent work continues to deal with the landmarks, horizons and motifs that she encounters everyday near her north Cornwall home. These paintings now move towards a more surreal imagery that goes some way to depict what happens when a very familiar landscape becomes less noticed and more entwined in the daily thoughts and distractions of the person in it. Paintings are reworked again and again only reaching success after many months, and in some cases years, in the studio.
