Pauline has been making ceramics for the last twenty years from her garden studio on Dartmoor where she finds endless inspiration as well as many of the materials she uses to create her work.
Her work is mostly sculptural; for those pieces with textural surfaces Paulineachieves this by impressing, embossing and printing the clay with stamps and rollers made by gathering materials from nature. The torso sculptures come from the ocean adorned with seaweed and shells, or from woodland and moorland clothed with ferns and heather. Her ‘garden’ pieces- often seedheads, or imaginative takes on plant parts – seem to have evolved organically from the undergrowth and look as stylish inside the home as they do nestling in the outdoors.
