A Passing Glance

The first of our Summer exhibitions, A Passing Glance features paintings by two Falmouth based artists: Steven Buckler and Philip Lyons, both of whom have a strong relationship with the Rame Peninsula. Steven grew up and lived not far from us and was a regular surfer at Whitsand Bay; and Philip has enjoyed camping - and painting - at Maker heights. In their very different styles both have perfectly captured the colours and sense of our beautiful corner of Cornwall.

Philip also paints still lives and his elegant studies of bowls, are not only a delight to have in the gallery but were also the inspiration for a collection of the 'real' items by Byre Gallery regular Lucy Burley; her exquisite range in colours to complement the paintings are a joy.

We're delighted to welcome fellow ceramicist Dawn Hajittofi with a stunning collection of her textured and glazed vessels; and making a welcome return with her elegant vessels in wood is Jayne Armstrong.

A new collection of glass by Ruth Shelley never fails to disappoint and these new works from her 'Stormy Seas' and 'Into the Deep' Range are a real delight.

We also have new jewellery from Amy Stringer - a wonderful contemporary take on the cameo - as well as collections from all our other favourite jewellers.

We hope you enjoy the short film here - and the whole exhibition.
