Carolyn Wixon

Familiarity with her  surroundings, the seasons and bare bones of a place, is something Carolyn Wixon treasures. Her work as a horticulturist in the West Country punctuates her artistic practice with knowledge of plants and soil and roots. Equally her previous career as a classical ballet dancer means she is physically in tune with her surroundings and acutely aware of her impact on space and place, and she paints with energy, empathy and impatience. The subsequent development of the work is an ongoing journey feeling my way to its conclusion.
