Benjamin Lintell

‘Sigma’ Glass Vessel

Approx 45cm tall, 20cm wide

Benjamin Lintell’s sculptural Sigma series was inspired by mathematical shapes such as the Mobius strip, and the Klein bottle, forms that are the result of a process being used to transform a shape. Benjamin wanted to use this idea in his glassblowing: rotating the axis of a cylinder causing the shape’s natural tensions and structure to play with those of the glassblowing process in a truly unique way. The movement of the body, the gradient of heat in the furnace and the gentle forces of the shaping tools are all captured within the form: a flowing arc of glass. This stunning work is a true statement piece.
